布拉格平面设计之光——卡拉·米谢赫教授专访

  捷克著名平面设计师Karel Míšek是波兰学院派海报设计之父托马耶夫斯基的学生。他的创作在天鹅绒分离之前的捷克斯洛伐克以及整个欧洲地区都享有盛名,他主要为剧院和文化机构做设计,现在也还是捷克共和国普金耶(UJEP)大学艺术学院平面设计第一工作室的带领导师。像他的老师亨利.托马耶夫斯基(Henryk Tomaszewski)一样,他的创作根植于自己生长的土地,又通过自己的智慧对国家文化和政治环境有极其巧妙而诙谐的回应。
  欧洲现代平面设计的很多大师都曾师从托马耶夫斯基,比如法国著名的共产主义设计团队格拉普斯(Grupas)创办者Alain Le Quernec , Thierry Sarfis, Bruno Koper都是他的弟子。被中国设计师熟知的米雪布维也是。托马耶夫斯基被尊称为波兰学院派海报之父,不仅是因为他自己一生的创作堪称浓缩版波兰现代海报史,奠定了六七十年代全球瞩目的波兰海报风格,更重要的是他还培养了一大批欧洲著名平面设计师。他们来自芬兰、挪威、瑞典、法国、斯洛文尼亚、捷克和波兰等不同国家。他这些弟子们在今天往往被称为现代欧洲平面设计大师,几乎都不同程度的受到他的创作方式的影响,但因为政治经济环境和文化语言及成长背景不同,他们又有各自不同的表达风格和特点。这一点我们看芬兰的Pekka Loiri 和Kari Piippo,波兰的Piotr Kunc 和 Lech Maiewski,还有现在的捷克共和国的卡拉·米谢赫(Karel Míšek)教授的作品便知一二。 米谢赫教授生活在捷克首都布拉格,他的工作室在布拉格旧城中心的一幢古老建筑的顶层,穆夏博物馆向西南隔了一条街道。米谢赫教授很喜欢在傍晚的布拉格散步,一边思考一边感受自己的城市。这座古老的城市至今保存着诗人聂鲁达的旧居,卡夫卡的墓园,当然城中心也有并不大的卡夫卡博物馆。在这里有其生平和一些文学作品的介绍,当然也有和满大街一样制作并不算精美的卡夫卡纪念品。卡夫卡是捷克犹太人,用德语写作,但捷克人对卡夫卡的了解并不多,这和这个国家的复杂历史有关系。德国占领时期卡夫卡作品是被禁的,战争结束后人们也因为战争而不喜欢德语作品。后来的共产主义政权也不宣传他的作品,因为卡夫卡作品中预言了即将到来的专制统治。 米兰·昆德拉的《生命不能承受之轻》也是以这里为背景。做为最伟大的德国作家之一的歌德曾说:“在那许许多多城市像宝石般镶成的王冠上,布拉格是其中最珍贵的一颗。” 而哲学家尼采说布拉格:“当我想以一个词来表达音乐时,我找到了维也纳;而当我想以一个词来表达神秘时,我只想到了布拉格。”布拉格当然同时也是音乐和戏剧之都。这座城市因其建筑的瑰丽被称为“千塔之城”“金色之城”,这座城还被称为“欧洲之心”,不仅仅因为地理位置居于欧洲中心,实际上早在14世纪,布拉格在做为捷克首都的同时,还是神圣罗马帝国的首都。那个时期,布拉格是欧洲权力的中心,最繁荣的城市。对于人类的生存处境,卡夫卡提供了阴郁的寓言,哈维尔提供了政治的实验,昆德拉提供了斑斓的象征,三者都在这里到达了顶峰。这座城是多么的适合人们行走和思考,激发想象,创造故事。写布拉格,其实是想写米谢赫教授居住的环境和城市,每位艺术家/设计师创作灵感都会到他或她所处环境的影响,卡拉米谢赫教授的创作与艺术思考也深受布拉格这座魔力城市影响,事实上这座古城中的自然或人文景观直到现在也保持着不可言说的魅力。米谢赫教授常常觉得傍晚的布拉格尤其典型,这时候灯光和阴影交错笼罩着古老的建筑,行人偶尔穿过街道,这一切,尤其在米谢赫教授的戏剧海报中,我们能感受到那些灵感被萌生激发的种子。
  米谢赫教授的创作当然不止海报,他也做商业标识和书籍设计。他早期为出版社创作的插图也很经典。在他的工作室,他向我展示了早期出版社委任他为莫泊桑小说创作的插图。但他最喜欢的创作媒介仍然是海报设计,他觉得海报能更多地表达创作者的态度,它既是传达委托者信息的媒介,也是艺术家自我表达的一种方式。海报制作前,他往往很仔细考虑并经过一些实验。他一直认为,一个能够精湛掌握海报设计技巧和表达的平面设计艺术家,(他喜欢叫平面设计师为平面设计艺术家)通过对海报设计信息的分析和提炼后具体视觉符号的展现和表达,从设计到制作和实现的过程是可以让一个设计师理解所有的平面设计问题的。无论什么样的项目,书籍、网站、建筑中的平面设计甚至是社会问题,道理都是一样的。平面设计师一定不能孤立的看问题,要看到整体和背景。然后作品里有态度,这样才能做出自己的贡献。米谢赫教授也会在创作过程中一遍一遍问他自己,海报到底有什么样有趣的地方,然后通过实践去寻找问题的答案。谢赫教授认为真正的艺术家创作手段重要,但是创作的态度和表达的勇气是更重要的。米谢赫教授他本人表示自己从不屈服于流行趋势。他用诚实的感受来激发灵感然后智慧的去表达。

  June (张小娟):您认为平面设计或设计思维中最重要的部分是什么? 创作新作品时您最喜欢的工具或方法是什么?  

  Karel Míšek(卡拉·米谢赫):我认为在我的海报创作中,主题的内容和表达是最重要的。我研究这个主题,总是多准备多个草图,我会反复对比,从中选出我认为最成功的一张。按照这个程序,我再去准备最后的印刷加工。我也用新技术。打印总是由印刷商来实现的,印刷商在这个过程中担任着非常重要的角色。 但我的海报通常是通过丝网印刷技术来实现的,我坚定的认为丝网印刷是一种传统而美观的印刷技术。特殊情况下,我才会使用数码打印。
 
  June:您怎样看待那些委任您做设计的不同客户们?
  Karel Míšek:在我的职业生涯中,我为国家很多主要的剧院工作过,尤其是国家剧院,还有一些其他剧院和文化机构,他们常常来找我设计海报。我也曾长期与捷克爱乐乐团合作。但一直以来都会有剧院来找我做设计,客户有我们国家的,也有法国,波兰等地的,2018年,波兰的Rzeszów.剧院还找到我为他们设计制作了海报。
 
  June:您最喜欢的设计师是哪位?为什么?
  Karel Míšek:只说一位设计师的话他应该是亨利.托马耶夫斯基(Henryk Tomaszewski)亨利.托马耶夫斯基不仅是波兰最重要的艺术家之一,而且也是欧洲和世界背景下的最重要的艺术家之一。 他也是我在华沙美术学院学习时候的导师。他的作品在今天仍然非常实践性和有创新意义。现在来看许多欧洲后来很著名的平面设计师们都是我当时的同学们,我们一起在华沙(波兰)美术学院跟随托马耶夫斯基学习。比如来自法国的Alain LeQuernec和Pierre Bernard(Grapus集团的创始人),来自波兰的Lech Majewski和Mieczyslaw Wasilewski等人。
 
  June:做为一位成功的设计实践者和教育者,您主要的教育理念是什么?
  Karel Míšek:创作者要有个人的观念,这种个人哲学和不妥协的方式在每一部创意作品中都是非常重要的。教学中我以这种理念带领我的学生。学创意设计的学生必须学会思考,创造出新的概念。这不仅在艺术领域很重要,其实是在各行各业都很重要。
 
  June:平面设计是否能投提升或对当地的文化产品设计有贡献?还是只能促进当地的文化生活?它在捷克共和国或布拉格是如何产生作用的?
  Karel Míšek:每一位新的创作者做作品都应该尝试使用新的制作和传达工具。这些传达的技术和工具的更新当然不仅仅是在自己的国家区域,有一点我们必须承认,在全球范围内,市场和经济发展也为竞争提供了巨大的机会。
 
  June:您如何看待平面设计中技术的发展?技术在设计过程中的作用是什么?那么您是如何看待手工工作的?
  Karel Míšek:无论怎样,手工创作是永远不可能被代替的,新技术加速和促进了信息的更迭。 而我们的特性和传统仍然保留在对内容的关注和对作品概念的传达上。 以此来传播和表达和文化和民族遗产。文化本身才是一个有助于相互理解和包容的外交官。

  借用米兰.昆德拉的话来呈现来自布拉格的平面设计之光-卡拉.米谢赫教授的艺术态度。离开米谢赫教授的工作室前,他指着工作室入口门背后那些已经贴满甚至还重叠了一些的卡片给我看,在芬兰拉赫蒂参加活动,在巴黎展览,在亚洲讲座,在布拉格评审,还有和他的海报大师朋友们在欢笑。我说,所有都和设计有关呢。他说:是的,这些就是我的生活啊。是的,设计,就是生活啊。

    Professor. Karel Míšek
    卡拉·米谢赫,教授、博士。捷克共和国普金耶大学(http://www.ujep.cz又译作扬.埃万盖利斯塔.普尔基涅大学)视觉传达系系主任,平面设计第一工作室主导教授。他的主要作品有一系列为国家剧院所做的海报设计,为音乐会以及其他剧院所创作海报设计,以及为捷克Philharmony and Albatros出版机构所做作品。他也在欧洲范围内做了很多广为人知的标识设计,海报设计,书籍设计以及其他平面设计。他的作品全世界范围内专业展览和双年展等参展超过一百多次,获得了很多本专业的权威奖项以及一些奖金。并且他经常做为专业评审参与当前各种国际奖项。TPT组织因他在海报领域的杰出贡献授予他“大师之眼”奖项。他年轻时师从波兰学院派海报之父亨利.托马耶夫斯基教授。在2013年,因他在海报领域的成就,他又被波兰共和国总统委任为波兰华沙美术学院教授。

    张小娟副教授简介:

  山东工艺美术学院视觉传达设计学院副教授

  英国皇家艺术学院访问学者2017,美国麻省东北大学访问学者2013

  曾任美国专业设计协会年度优秀作品展中国巡展总监(2012),获得学院教学成果奖, 全国视觉传达设计论坛优秀指导教师奖,国际平面设计协会工作坊项目优秀奖,山东省实验教学与实验技术成果奖等。作品多次参与国际国内展览并被社会采用,发表论文10余篇,并翻译多篇重要学术论文与国外教授讲座。策划组织了多次国际教学交流与合作项目。教授课程涉及视觉识别、影像设计、交互设计,书籍设计、品牌设计,毕业设计与毕业论文指导等。
